The
Brooklyn Bridge has to be NYC's most
photogenic bridge. Sit back and enjoy the pizza!
Utopia, a society with a
perfect social-political-legal system, is impossible.
Dystopia, a society characterized by human misery, oppression, disease, and overcrowding, is unsustainable. History shows that some societies have been more
utopian, while others have been more
dystopian. History also shows that many
dystopian societies disguise themselves as
utopian. Somewhere in between is the individual. The
momentary experience of the
individual can span the most terrifying and the most heartening, irrespective of the type of society he or she is in. On the other hand, there is a correlation between society and individual happiness.
Correlation does not imply causation.
When we are relaxed and immersed in what we are doing, we are in a state of
flow. Although,
flow is hard subject to write about, we know when we are
flowing. What we do not know is how to reattain
flow when it is interrupted. For some, this comes more naturally, while others spiral into a state of
apathy.
Apathy is self-imposed
dystopia.
