Since the 2008 economic crisis, the restaurant business in the United States and especially
theme restaurants are taking a hit. The
restaurant bankruptcy epidemic is far from over. The
low-wage economy is taking its toll on businesses big and small.
It's only downhill for the global economy from this point on. We have never truly recovered from the 2008 financial crisis. Jobs lost to
automation and cheaper labor markets are never coming back. Industrialization is beginning to hit the
physical limits of resource extraction. The banking and finance sectors are more vulnerable than ever. And, environmental impacts such as climate change and pollution are beginning to stress our food resources.
When considered together, it sure looks like we are on the verge of a new era of negative growth economy or possibly collapse. There are no apparent and coherent technological or political ways out it - we are digging ourselves deeper. Yet hardly anyone seriously thinks about and deals with any of this. We're all invested is some sense of false hope; Somehow, everything is going to turn out alright. "We all suffer from dreams". Rock and Roll!
