The Beard
Throughout history, the Beard has been associated with things like masculinity, wisdom, sexual virility, higher status and spirituality. Ancients treated their beards with great veneration and care, and in many cultures, cowardice, adultery, or other misbehavior was punished by cutting off the beard.
Last year, due to a dispute over religious differences, an Amish group that was sidelined attacked community members by cutting off their beards. The perpetrators were charged with, and later convicted of, hate crimes. Leave a man's beard alone!
