Another panning shot taken at
Summit Point Motorsports Park.
During a discussion, someone asked me if I post-processed my photographs. When I affirmed, he seemed disappointed. The reality is, every photograph is manipulated in some way; choice of film, camera settings, specific limitations of the camera all amount to some degree of manipulation. I shoot any scene with the goal of obtaining the proper exposure, therefore my in-camera settings usually produce less than desirable photos. I personally do not like photos that look unrealistic or elements that have been moved or replaced within a photograph.
The
Straight Photography trend rejected the manipulation of photographs in any way... I find this to be an impossible task.
In this photograph, contrast was slightly increased and saturation decreased to give it its mood. Compare this with
another shot
from the same event which is more true to the scene.
