The original
Mini was built between 1959 and 2000 by the British Motor Corporation (BMC). It was voted the second most influential car of the 20th Century, behind the Ford Model T.
The Right Hand Drive you see in the photograph is probably the Mark II built between 1967 and 1973. The mini were successful as rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally four times from 1964 through to 1967. They can still be seen in British rallies.
The new MINI, built since 2001, has almost nothing to do with the original. It is produced by BMW who owns the "Mini" brand. "MINI" is capitalized to distinguish it from the original.
