A Curious Red Fox
Red Foxes are fairly abundant at the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge which is located in coastal Delaware. This female walked right past our car and then decided to sit and stare at us for a few seconds.
Red Foxes usually hunt at dawn and dusk. They are omnivores and eat anything that they can find, from fruits and grains to bugs and small animals.
Foxes are generally portrayed as deceitful in most folklore and mythology. The fox is considered a cunning animal in the Bible, Arabic and European folklore and Native American mythology. It is interesting that many different cultures seem to have antipathy for the fox... She seems cute enough.
