After drinking their cup of
Turkish coffee, Turks generally turn their cup upside down, let it crystallize a little and let somebody
read their fortune from the cup. This is part tradition, part fun, and for some, serious business.
My take on the whole thing is that, most things other people "know" are simply not worth knowing. That is true not only for fortune-tellers but for scientists and philosophers. 99% of all knowledge out there is bullshit - worst than that - harmful.
Ignorance is not bliss; Ignorance of bullshit is bliss. That is, only if you are able to truly detect bullshit. [Feel free to replace "bullshit" with "nonsense"]
