The annual
LGBT pride celebrations held throughout the Unites States took on a greater meaning in 2015. Just last week,
The Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide. Still, the struggle is not over, with
some states resisting the ruling and conservative groups gearing up to reintroduce so called
"religious freedom" laws.
Take a look at the couple in the photo - clearly
in love for 32 years. Why are they threatening to some people? It's
nobody business how they love each other. Attacking the LGBT community and LGBT rights is ignorance and cowardice; Ignorance of what truly threatens our lives - from unrestricted corporate power to wars to global poverty to climate change - and cowardice to face these challenges, instead blaming loving people. It's those committing the
fallacy of false cause we need to be worried about. It's hate we need to be worried abut.
In
response to the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage,
Reverend Franklin Graham said:
"Christians must prepare for persecution and God's Judgment On America". I refer him to the
Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven";
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth";
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy";
"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven"...
