Here's
what they tell us, over and over again:
"Nearly 1 billion people have been taken out of extreme poverty in 20 years ... Most of the credit, however, must go to capitalism and free trade, for they enable economies to grow - and it was growth, principally, that has eased destitution". They'd like us to believe that, wherever capitalism goes, things turn to gold. A very convenient myth, ignoring the
limits of growth and the environment.
In Greek Mythology, there also was a character who could turn everything he touched with his hand into gold.
King Midas had the
"golden touch". But they often leave out the part where King Midas dies of starvation. He couldn't eat, because his food turned to gold.
