I've been acquiring a lot of
cycling photographs lately. This post added a new tag:
Cycling.
This shot was taken quite accidentally. I was a little frustrated trying to take a meaningful picture of a
Peking Duck restaurant. I turned around and stumbled upon this composition. Photographers have been struggling with
harsh light since the beginning of photography. Street photographers, who generally use wide angle lenses, mostly hate it. When using wide angle lenses under sunny skies, either the subjects are left in the dark, or skies end up being blown. The obvious solution is to capture subjects in the shade from a close distance, and keep the sky out of the composition. But sometimes, as in this photograph, the harsh light
makes the picture.
