A second before this shot was taken, everyone that you see in the frame was staring in the same direction. I had a short-telephoto prime on my camera and was dismayed that I wasn't going to get everyone in focus. I did the opposite and set the lens' maximum aperture and focused on the young lady. After I took the shot, I realized how preoccupied I must have been not to notice the sunset they all were so enjoying. Then came a moment of
vicarious vitality.
