The I ❤ NY logo was originally created in 1977 for an advertising campaign to promote tourism in New York City. It has become one of the most recognized Pop Art style icons. Many advertising campaigns have imitated the logo, while many cities have adapted it. The rebus logo was created by graphic artist Milton Glaser.

New York City is the third most visited city by international tourists, following Paris and London. It hosts numerous tourist attractions; parks, museums, landmarks, historic places, cultural events, festivals and shopping centers.

For many that have lived in, or are living in New York City, it is not worth the hype. According to the 2010 Mercer survey "Quality of Living worldwide city rankings", New York City ranks 49th. Others think that it is the Center of the Universe. I tend to think it is rather the Symptom of the Universe.
