Swans have had, and continue to have symbolic roles in literature as well as many
cultures and mythologies.
I particularly like the spiritual concepts that they represent in Hinduism; Swans symbolize the extraction or separation of what is truly valuable from the world while leaving behind what is not. Similarly, spiritual people are compared to swans because of their ability exist in the world without being attached to it; much like a swan not getting wet despite that it lives in water.
