It used to be that the highest goal in life was to inquire, learn and to overcome ignorance. Not any longer. These days, the purpose of education is to get a job that both pays well and is prestigious. The drive for technical and one-dimensional education is forwarded by governments and corporations. We are pushed to do one thing very well and be useful to them. We are neither the fox nor the hedgehog. We do not draw on a wide array of knowledge and experience like the fox, nor do we know and push one important thing like the hedgehog. Modern day education breeds obedient workers...
