Amateur Night At The Apollo

Amateur Night At The Apollo

Amateur Night announcement at the famous Apollo Theater.

Amateur and professional. The etymology of these two words are revealing. An amateur is a "lover of [a particular pursuit]", whereas a professional is derived from the verb "profess", which originally meant "taking the vows of a religious order". In the contemporary sense of the word, it would not be unfair to say that, a "professional" is a person who has taken the wows of the religious order that is known as "money". Be aware of "professionals".

In things spiritual [love] there is no division and no numbers; in things spiritual [love] there is no partition and no individuals".
