"Architecture is a good indicator of what a given culture values at a given time in history - Just look at the most spectacular buildings". That was the content of an earlier post titled Architecture and Culture. During a conversation, a friend of mine suggested something far more cynical. He suggested that "architecture is a good indicator of what a given culture worships at a given time in history". He went further; "A grand shopping mall serves the same purpose as a grand temple, and that is to subliminally remind people who is the boss". So who is the "boss" today? Who are we asked to worship? Who are the Titans?
