Early codices were often decorated with illuminated manuscripts known as miniatures. Once upon a time each book not only contained a wealth of knowledge, but was also a work of art. These days, we have ASCII and Unicode, we have pixels and offset printing, and we have photographs and animation. None have the beautiful combination of manual art integrated with knowledge.
I photographed this Ottoman Miniature
at the same antique shop as the last posted miniature, but I have no clue what this one depicts. Maybe someone will help me figure it out? Detail below.
