The word
zombie is adapted from Haitian folklore, and refers to the
undead raised through some magical means. In popular culture, zombies are usually depicted by mindless or
mind controlled catatonic animated corpses hungry for human flesh.
Social scientists and psychologists have long been trying to figure out why zombies capture the imagination in numerous cultures around the world. Maybe the answer is simple; In the modern world, most of us eventually transform into zombies - not quite alive, not quite dead - hungry in envy for each others possessions. In other words, zombies rationalize for us the
irrational among us. Just maybe.
