"Opinion is the medium between knowledge and ignorance" is a popular quote attributed to
Plato but I'm not sure he actually uttered it. Either way, any conversation, that is, interactive and spontaneous spoken communication, almost invariably involves opinion. We simply can not converse in absolute "facts". And yet our conversations are real and always leave an impression on the other.
As the
Nim Chimpsky study revealed, there is no evidence that animals can acquire language; Only humans are "wired" to develop language. But that sounds odd. We have conversations with animals all the time. The question then becomes, does a conversation require a mutually spoken language? If so, Why?
