Celebrity culture is now global.
The phenomenon of boom in
celebrity culture in the recent years is
explained in two ways. The first, through "artificial promotion" by companies that want to sell goods. The second, through a personal need for "drama and spectacle", accomplished by seeing the celebrity as a "god-like" figure. What almost no one talks about is the dangers of embracing
celebrity culture. And sadly, only a few actually realize that they are caught up in
celebrity culture.

Alex Carey, Australian writer and social psychologist. Pioneer of the "study of corporate propaganda".
